Competitors must record one piece from each of the following three sections:- Section A

Round Two
The five finalists will perform in a gala concert on Saturday September 29th from 7.30 – 10pm. This round will be adjudicated by two guest artists of the Sydney Flute Festival and a prominent local musician. An associate artist will be provided by the Festival, and all finalists will receive equal amount of rehearsal time.
Each Finalist will have a maximum of 21 minutes playing time and is responsible for performing, within the 21 minutes, a programme chosen from their first round selection. A performance exceeding 21 minutes will be stopped immediately.
RULES
(English language version is binding)
- The entrance fee is non-refundable.
- The Competition is open to any players of any age.
- The entrant’s DVD/CD must be a fair representation of their playing. The recording may be stopped and re-started between selections but no editing is allowed. Entrants are advised that the recording quality may affect results.
- The DVD/CD recording should be signed off by another person who was present.
- Performance of repeats is optional.
- Incomplete entries will not be accepted.
- No recordings will be returned.
- Finalists are responsible for their own travel arrangements and all expenses.
- Judges are not obligated to comment on any adjudication.
- All judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence regarding judges’ decisions will be entered into.
- An artist invited to present or perform during the festival is ineligible to enter the Open Flute Competition.
- All queries should be directed to the Artistic Director.
OPEN PICCOLO COMPETITION 2007
PRIZE
Powell Signature Model Piccolo. Grenadilla body and head with solid silver keywork.

Round Two

- The second and final round will consist of the chosen Ensembles performing in a Competition at the Festival which will be adjudicated by three judges appointed by the Artistic Director
REPERTOIRE
The Ensemble may choose any number of pieces or excerpts with a maximum performance of 15 minutes total duration. For the final round, the Judges will choose from the pieces submitted on the Ensemble’s DVD/CD.
RULES
- The entrance fee is non-refundable
- The Competition is open to players of any age
- An Ensemble must consist of 3 to 6 players
- Multiple players per part are not permitted
- Instruments other than flutes are not allowed
- No conducting is permitted
- “Backing tracks” or similar are not permitted
- The Ensemble’s DVD/CD must be a fair representation of their playing. The recording may be stopped and re-started between selections but no editing is allowed. Entrants are advised that the recording quality may affect results
- No recordings will be returned.
- Performance of repeats is optional.
- Incomplete entries will not be accepted
- Finalists are responsible for their own travel arrangements and all expenses.
